Day 27

We are now reading Homer Price out loud together. Today we read about how the doughnut machine kept on making doughnuts, It just kept dropping rings of dough into the hot oil and a gadget kept turning them over and another gadget kept rolling them down the chute.... Anyway, the more I read about doughnuts the hungrier I got for fresh doughnuts. By the end of the chapter I had decided I must make doughnuts today. I did, and they were good.
Today is rainy and gray again. must be autumn.

yum! What recipe do you use for your donuts. We always just used refrigerated biscuits like we learned from Aunt Ellen. We would use a milk jug lid to cut out the center and then have donut holes as well :)... But I would love to have another recipe if you have one. :)

Doughnuts are perfect for a cloudy, rainy day! Sounds good, too. I haven't made any for a long time. Anna made scones with craisins in them for breakfast. They are delicious. She just uses a regular biscuit recipe and adds craisins or raisins and 3 T. sugar and 1 egg. Then she cuts down the milk by 1/4 to 1/3 cup depending on the size of the egg. .....Is your cake doughnut recipe from the Betty Crocker book? mom
