What is it?

We went on a walk this week and found this vine. I think the flowers are really pretty. It also has this really big fruit.
It was climbing all over some black berry bushes.
If anyone knows what it is I would love to know. I wonder if the fruit is eatable?

I think that looks like a passion flower but I will have to check for sure.....
Sure enough it is according to my book which says: "The juicy oval fruit has fragrant, edible white pulp made into refreshing drinks and ice creams. Native Americans used the whole plant to treat swollen and irritated eyes, and the root as general tonic. The leaves give a nonaddictive, nondepressant sedative for insomnia and anxiety, to prevent rapid heartbeat, and to reduce high blood pressure. They relieve the muscle spasm of asthma, epilepsy, and irritable bowel syndrome, and in a compress, soothe burns and skin irritations."

It sounds like you found a real winner! Is there a lot of it?

By the way it sounds like it is called (wild) passion flower because the middle of the flower is shaped somewhat like a cross which symbolizes the crucifixion.

There were three fruits on a rather large vine. It was a little hard to tell though since it was on blackberry bushes on the edge of some woods that some of our party was afraid of.
is the fruit ripe when its green or will it turn colors?
Thanks for looking it up for me! :D

I think they are commonly called flowers, though I could be mistaken.
