Summer days

This summer has been busy already. It has been HOT. We have been having fun. I bought the kids a little wading pool and they have spent many hours playing in it. The girls also got new swimsuits last week. that was exciting.

One Very hot (100*F+) Sunday afternoon we went for a walk at a state park not to far from our home. It was really pretty. We went down quite a long large hill and across a creek. then met a sign explaining that whatever way we went it would be up hill and several miles. We opted to go only a little farther along the creek and then go back.

We had to climb the very big hill in the very warm weather. some of our group were afraid they were going to have to just live at the bottom of the hill it seemed to hard to get to the top.

We all made it, but as you can see it was exhausting. :)
Today the kids had a bike wash going on in the garage. I did some spray painting touch ups on a couple of the bikes. It made it seem like they had new bikes. Oh, we aired the tires too. Molly also took the broken hand brake off of hers.

Caramel Apples

This past week we made Caramel using a recipe that Jenny gave me last winter.
My pot was almost too small.:) It turned out very yummy. It was not very hard to do ether.
I saw the idea for mini caramel apples in a magazine at the dentist office. They made it a lot easier for the kids to eat. And we did not waste any apple since we all we happy to eat whatever was left on the core.
Tis the season for APPLES!

Some pictures

Here are picture's from a tea party, ice cream at Cold Stone, playing with chalk out back, Heidi's birthday and a monkey.

We also went on walks to see grapes and passion fruit.
More chalk time.

Grapes!

We were on a quest for grapes on our walk, and we found some! most of the ones within reach were not ripe but we did get a few to bring home and we also ate a bunch. The ones we could not reach were high in an Oak tree(Willow Oak to be exact).
We also found a Pecan tree that we will be visiting throughout the summer and fall to get them when they are ripe. They were very green and I thought they smelled a little like Citronella.
The blackberry were, alas, way past their season so we missed out on the black berries!
On our way home the sky turned a very dark gray and we started to hear thunder in the distance so we hurried the rest of the way home. No sooner had we got in that it did indeed start to pour and be a grand storm. It ended up lasting all night.
We were very thankful for the rain.
We are getting a much needed shower again today, gray and wet weather.

What is it?

We went on a walk this week and found this vine. I think the flowers are really pretty. It also has this really big fruit.
It was climbing all over some black berry bushes.
If anyone knows what it is I would love to know. I wonder if the fruit is eatable?

My garden

I love having a place to do a little gardening. It's not much space but it is enough to keep me happy. I can work at it while the kids are playing outside and they also like to try to help me too.

Yes we are alive and well!...

Hi! I haven't been blogging lately, we've been really busy and I get tiered of uploading pictures all over the place.
If you would like to see pictures of my lovely family, please get a facebook account and be my friend on there. It is really easy to set up and use (even for you mom) and I put almost all my pictures on there.
I will try to blog still too but summer is kind of hard for that.
We have made a trip to the Zoo this summer. ^
-Spent many afternoons at the neighborhood pool. ^We have spent a lot of time in the car. (or truck as the case may be.) ^
We also went to see the ocean once. ^

Also I have made several trips to the Doc. to figure out about my thyroid. Thankfully I do not I cancer but I do have a really large lump that will have to come out sometime. We are planning on having the surgery in October. Please keep that in your prayers. I am a little worried about my thyroids function after the surgery.

Until next time....
